Great gym. Invisible on Google.

Helix is a serious independent gym in North London — strength-focused, no contracts, run by two coaches who actually know what they're doing. But on Google, big chains were taking all the oxygen. Helix ranked #12 for "gym near me" in their borough; nobody scrolls to page 2.

Their main acquisition channel was Instagram, which had plateaued. Memberships per month were flat for 8 months running.

Three phases, sixteen months.

Months 1–3: Foundation. Technical SEO audit fixed 47 crawl issues. Rewrote 8 service pages with proper local schema. Optimised Google Business Profile, got listed in every relevant directory, fixed NAP consistency across 22 citations.

Months 4–9: Content engine. Published 2 long-form articles per month targeting "[exercise] near me" and "how to [fitness goal]" keywords. Built 38 quality backlinks from fitness publications and local borough sites.

Months 10–16: Compound interest. Doubled down on what was working. Added comparison pages ("Helix vs. PureGym vs. The Gym Group"), launched a member-success story series, and started running a £200/month Google Local Services campaign.
